follow my leader
« on: April 11, 2009, 19:18 »
::) I,d like to move my girls to a run i have made for a bit of fresh digging and scratching, Is there any wierd and wonderful or even plain stupied way's of making them follow me, I have done it with they're feeder, it worked but only just. I only did it once ,would they get better with practice..... is they're another method that could be better. I don't want to man handle them unless there is no alternative. Don't get me wrong I do pick them up, it's just a nicer way if they'd just follow. HELP..
ho hum !

How far do they need to walk ?

If it's within sight, you could just throw a handful of corn down in the new run and they'll probably gallop in !  :D

:(No its  not within sight, about 25 yards.  :) when they stop to eat abit of grain they just carry on scrapping about and go walkabout.......I can't seem to keep they're attention for more than a couple of seconds.I'd pretty much given up trying to intrest humans a while ago, but the the thought that even the chickens don't want to know is going to take some further contemplation..

I can only think of some sort of temporary barriers to follow.

Sorry I can't come up with anything. :(

Don't give up hope. Maybe someone will come up with something. Failing that you'll have to take a video of them and post it up  :D
