When I say shop, it's a  shed where they have fertilisers, weedkillers etc etc for you to buy...so not really a shop  as such, I probably used a poor description in my excitement  .

There's lots of stuff in black bins, which I assume they buy in bulk so I suppose it works out cheaper.. :?

I didnt really ask too much about it the other day, but it seemed quite handy to have what you need there. Especially for the complete novice like me.

When I get round to it I'm going to make a composting type loo on my plot out of some pallets and possibly willow. Ideally I'd have made it all out of willow withys but I'm a tight wad at heart and they may work out £'s

They said I'm more than welcome to get stuck in myself...funny that..  :D

One question though, the grass is actually long but has been flattened down, what's the best way to get rid of it, cos it's wet and very difficult to strim , should I just leave it to be rotovated?

Handy thing bushes

Difficult one the grass, if you have a petrol rotary mower they are great for this job, highest setting and away you go, then keep lowering it and you get loads of compostable material too.
Strimmer may do it to but hard, noisy work esp when its flat  :(

in the city ,, one of the attractions of an allotment is the isolation, even it is only imaginary, do we really want to make it so "convenient" next thing it will be "duty of care" and the dreaded "helf and summit"

I'm talking about my new plot and the fact I'm excited about it, I'm not sure what your point is?

What a cracking start to have it cleared and rotovated.
Dad will probably tell you this but do not be in a hurry to plant until Spring. The rotovator will break it up but probably spread the weeds by chopping them up.
Spend time the first year making sure it is clean of weeds. Crops are better planted a little late than coming up full of couch grass or other nasties. Use a fork.

Enjoy!!

I see what you are saying peabody, but I still dont want to pee in full view of all the other plot holders! So loos are a great asset!  I am a ladeeeee  :D
