Hi all,

I am new to posting on this site but have been lurking for a bit now :)

I am a complete beginner and have decided to turn my garden into a working fruit and veg plot.

I pick up my first secondhand 8x7 greenhouse with staging on Saturday which I am quite excited about, although I am sure that will be dampened when I have to dismantle the thing in the rain

I have just sown Alpine Strawberries, Peas and Peppers in the propogator and should be able to put them in the greenhouse come Sunday :) I am looking at growing Burpless Cucumbers, tomatoes, pumkins, corn and runner beans also this year!

After October (holiday booked) we are looking at investing in some hens also.

So all in all, we need a lot of advice and help and in return can offer some chatter, updates and pictures of our evolving empire!

Jo x

Welcome Jo,it is exciting having a greenhouse,if you have not had one before take some photos before dismantling, also use a felt tip pen to mark the pieces, this will help when re-erecting,also wear a good pair of gloves.Enjoy.

Got our allotment last weekend - other half optimistically told me it needed "a bit of work" . . .  it looks as though half has been worked fairly recently, but full of currrently unidentifiable dead weeds (it was covered with about a foot of snow when I saw it first)  with the remainder covered in brambles.  Plan is currently to work half of it this year, and cover the rest (as both of us work full time), plant some fruit, potatoes and beans and see how it goes.
Have found this forum really useful already with so much information.  Glad I'm not the only new kid.

Thank you all for the replies :)

I will take lots of photos and a pen along when we dismantle so we know how to put it back together again!

I have a week off from work to get the garden in good order before growing season also :)
