Distance between rows

If I have a row or two of, say, Sprouting Broccolli which I plant in rows 60mm apart and I want to put some Onion Sets in which are 30mm between plants what width apart should I put them?

My guess is half the width of the widest plant. in the case above that would make 30mm - am I right :?:

Are you sure of the figures given?
60mm is less then 2 1/2 ins
30mm is just over an inch.

Onions say 4 ins = 100mm probably better at 6ins = 150mm
As to broccolli everything implies rows 6ins apart again 150mm

60 and 30mm seems close.

you'd also have to be careful not to disturb the onions when you remove the broccoli plants

I read mm as cm which I expected to see and fits with the usual spacing,

I plant in blocks and have to work out what area each plant needs. Rows are a bit easier to work out:- add half of the broccoli row width to half of the onion row width, and that's the distance between the broccoli and the onions. The distance between plants swithin the rows does not change.
You can substitute any other veg and the formula is still the same.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

I wouldn't put anything between the PSB now, it needs room and a firm surface. I usually give it 3 foot between rows not less than 2 1/2 feet between plants.

Personally I would leave the best part of a metre from the last ps broc to the start of the onions. This space will be required at harvest time and all the land will be reclaimed ready for a new crop in May when the broccoli finishes.

Onions would normally be planted about 150mm apart in the row with 300mm between rows. (More if you have big boots.)
