Jammy Question
« on: July 11, 2008, 19:21 »
For the first time this wek I have made some strawberry jam. Many thanks to Val for the instructions.
The jam is lovely, but can anyone tell me why the strawberries have risen to the top of the jar?

Thanks

Elaine

you're right...with strawberry jam you have to let the jam cool for 15 minutes...and this works well with all whole fruit.

I've had a lovely afternoon making blackcurrant jam...really delish.
Also made some loganberry frozen yoghurt.....new recipe and so easy peasy...as well as being low calorie!!!

Sure! It's a recipe from this month's Ideal Home.

Ingredients
500gm froze berries
500 g natural yoghurt
3 tblspoons icing sugar

Method

Leave the berries at room temperature to defrost.

Put the yoghurt, berries and sugar into a food processor and whizz until well blended.

Spoon the mixture into freezer proof container and freeze for at least 5 hours - overnight if possible.

Serves 4(big portions!) only 150 kcal and 1gm fat per serving.
......

I didn't use frozen berries....just used the logan berries straight from the allotment...and the fruity taste is great....adn it was a vibrant pink colour.I'm, going to try with blackcurrants next.
