Barn / Battery hens
« on: August 31, 2008, 22:23 »
Me and the wife have been having a discussion on the colour of hens. The question is.

Why are barn hens normaly white and battery red?

I dont think they are but looking at google images it seems that there is a higher percentage of white.

Lets hope some one can put this question to rest before we fall out over it !!

hiya night family, i've got quite a few ex barn hens, to me they seem the same as ex batts, only maybe have a few more feathers, and a tiny bit more freedom, i  think they are the same breed (hybrids) i think they are bred the same, only  barn's hens maybe have it a little bit better than battery, only my personal opinion tho, i've had ex batts before, but with a bit of time they all get there in the end, and in a few months no one would be able to tell the difference........
