Doooo without the cockerdoodle?
« on: June 17, 2008, 16:05 »
Hi Everyone,

One of my young cocks (14-15 weeks old) has started to make the strangest of noises  .  It sounds like a deep elongated doooo without the cockerdoodle and, to be honest, is more like a cow with a sore throat than what I'd expect from a bird.

Is this normal?

Yep Pep, its normal, they are just getting used to their new voices!  Our meat chicks started to cock-a-doodle at 8 weeks would you believe, and they sounded more like strangled cats!!!!!   :cat:

He does sound young doesn't he?  What a lovely clip.  At least you can make out a cockerdoodledoo,  I just get a doooooooooo.

We have cows, goats, sheep etc. pass the gate regularly and I just thought it was a different animal that a local was grazing nearby.  Never dreamt a cock could make such a hideous noise

I'll just see how it develops.

Thank you for your replies.

Aah. He sounds just like our Monty did when we first got him. Believe me, they soon learn to do it right, and then they do it again and again and again...........
