« on: May 27, 2008, 15:32 »
hi all,

alot of my garlic is laying down, bent at the bace1

Im guessing its the rain thats bent them over and i was just wondering will this kill them off? and what would happen if i was to harvest them early, would they just be smaller or would they not be formed right?

many thanks

nathan

Whether they're ready depends on when you planted them. I think they take about 4 months. I put mine in either Oct or Nov but I don't think they're ready yet. If you think they are you could have a look. You won't know unless you do.  I picked mine on 17 June last year from a sowing Oct/Nov last year

think mine went in oct nov time,

i will leave them for now and see what happens, dont want to harvest a useless crop

thats why i was wondering about them being just small or un-formed

thanks

That would make it 7-8 months then.

Leave them alone, Nathan, they'll be fine. :D

Keep in mind that every crop has good and bad years, same with various areas nathan. next year will probably be a lot better for you.
