Doing my weekly inspection of the girls noticed one of them has gone a little bald between the legs underneath, no pinkness to skin,  tail down but eating & drinking well.
Thought she might be going broody but I thought that feather loss was nearer to the breast bone than legs and a pinkish colour to the skin. All the birds seem in good health.

Any ideas ??

Well here's the pic's I suffered for these ! as I held one down to roll her over another one launched itself out of the shed and latched on to my hand

Pics are of two different birds both of which are going a bit thin, but they do spend a happy hour or so sitting in the nest box so perhaps they are going broody ?

Not the best quality pics I'm afraid

Has Munty given you his camera Rich

If the skin is nice and clean and and soft then broody is a good bet.  If it's hard and shiny, then rubbed on the purch I'd guess (We got no purches so no experience of that).   Difficult to see from your Munty shots   But as it's only two of the birds and you've checked for lice and mites it doesn't leave much else.

one of my chooks has the same but clean from mites/lice and seems perfectly happy, just looks a bit odd. I thought she was having a midnight feast as there are never any feathers left under perch/in nestbox.

Don't you just love keeping chickens?
