Broody or ill?
« on: May 22, 2008, 21:59 »
I hope someone can help me!  Today I found 2 chickens sitting in the hen house - one in the nest box and one on the floor of the house.  All their feathers are fluffed up and nothing will entice them to move!  They are coming up for a year old (one silver sussex and one rhode island red).  Are they sickening for something or could they be broody?  I think there may be an egg or two in there!  They were up and about this morning eating and drinking.:?

Many thanks

Ive also got two broodies, one a light sussex and the other a black (breed unknown). Its a tussle everyday, and I take my life in my hands to get the eggs out. (Leather gloves go on!)
How long does broodiness last?
