as a matter of fact the moon has a great affect on the planet and life

as it effects the magnetic filed of all living things

as the moon orbits earth the polar wobble of the plant brings the moon closer at certain times of the year

the effect can be seen AKA spring tide and so on

so i could see some truth in it

im not saying that if you plant your seeds on a fall moon you will get bigger plants

but for thousands of years we have planted by the cycles of nature and its when we as big headed humans start to mess with this

thats when things go wrong

I don't think anyone doubts that but what makes anyone believe a certain 3 days in March will be better than the other 28.

I am well aware of seasonal variation. It's called the Seasons. December, very cold. March, cold. June, not quite so cold etc.

The only critical factors for the germination of our veg seeds are moisture and warmth in varying amounts and later the amount of SUNlight available.

Provide the right amount of heat, moisture and light and anything can be grown at any time. Just look at all the salads being produced in Holland day in day out.

Bit late to reply, but I bought the Maria and Matthias Thun Biodynamic Sowing and Planting Calentar last year.... THERE IS SOOOO MUCH TO LEARN AND READ, that if you took it seriously you would not have time to actually "garden."  I feel that there is probably some value to it, but I do not have time in my life to READ the book!!!

quite simply, the moon has no effect on terrestrial plants, its gravity is there all the time regardless of the moons phase, it has no liquid metallic elements hence no magnetic field (and no atmosphere), and can only influence the sea for tides due to the immense mass of the seas also having gravity. The gravity of the moon, measured at the earths surface, is less than that of your shed next to the plot. You would have far more effect on the plants by moving a big rock about

the ancients planted by the moon simply because, along with the equinoxes and solstices, it indicated the seasons. What cant be seen from ancient monuments (which were part of the forcasting system for seasons) was there knowledge of weather and climate, which had a far greater import on their planting and reaping activities, and hence ultimately there own migration patterns.

dont waste your time with lunar phase planting, instead learn to calculate 'growing days' from meterological data
