My onion plants are growing away nicely . Just one problem , Some are
a touch on the floppy side , Is this a problem or will they sort themselfs
out when they get a bit bigger .

Soft, fast growth on the warm side is quite often like that, slowly hardening off shall sort them, if that's the case.

In Canada, all the nurseries give onion plants 'haircuts' to take out leggy growth and help the greenery bush out better. We grow some pretty big onions here so it obviously works, even with homegrown onion plants. Cut off about the top third, no more.

I have started to grow onions from seed this year and had the same problem, then read you can trim them down to about 1 inch. Did this and they have come along in leaps and bounds with lots of extra shoots. Also moved them into our temporary greenhouse where it is much cooler.
Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty, and so is your head.

The local rabbits did this for me   Just in the process of putting a fence up now!
Are you looking for an allotment (full or to share) in South East Sheffield. PM me for details.
