Gingerbob - looks like a very good selection to me, and nothing on that list looks too difficult.

... was easy to germinate but summat nibbled them when they were tiny so I'd suggest keeping them under a fleece until they're a reasonable size.

I was impressed though with the crop, beautifully clean white stems.

Mine were fine but we did too many and they went to seed before we could eat them all, I don't think they freeze very well either and couldn't think of anything to do with them apart from stir frying!

You can steam them, or eat them raw in a salad!!

I am sick of them by the end of the season as my husband insists on sowing some every couple of weeks.

I still have some digging to do, and need to go back and do some weeding on the bits I dug before Christmas, but Im getting there.

Have put my seed order in now, and will get chitting potatoes, and putting garlic in the ground as a start.

Another question....

I have a dark(er) end of the allotment that only gets light for about 1/2 the day. What crop is best going in down there?

Broad beans, salad leaves and lettuce do fine on my shady bit, and PSBroccolli as well.
