About 6 years ago I planted 'Hinnonmaki Yellow' on the plot but the last four seasons it has produced green berries!!  can any one explain this oddity?

Did it produce any yellow berries before then?  If it did, then it's possible the strain is not genetically stable and could have reverted back to a dominant gene.  If it didn't produce yellow ones, then it might be you have something that was mislabelled from the start.

EDIT - on looking up the variety on different sites, apparently the colour of the fruit tend to look more green than yellow ...

Thank you Salmo and BabbyAnn,

It did produce yellow berries for the first two years, the green berries do not turn yellow after 8 weeks or longer, by which time the berries have 'gone over' and are only fit for the black birds, which I suppose is not a bad thing.

Not had amazing results with the Hinnommaki Yellow here so I dug it up, gave it away and planted another yellow variety called Leveller. Much better! Tastier berries.
