Sorry I was not implying any camera trickery.

What I meant by illusion was, to me the rows look more like a foot apart with some of the plants virtually touching between rows.  This is obviously not the case as the rows are 2.5' apart as I would normally do.  I just wanted to check that I wasn't wasting space have a larger row spacing than needed.

But each 'row' is a spade width filled by a shovel full of peas, not a single line.....

More correctly, each row is a shovel width. The peas are hand-sown!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I measured them to be sure this morning.

There are indeed 2'6" apart, but that is row centre to row centre. Given that the rows when sown are about 12" wide, that makes it 1"6" from row edge to row edge. It doesn't take much growth before they're touching, which indeed they are this morning!

I see. I have always measured the row spacing from the edge of the trenches.  So I think I will narrow the spacing (ie use row centre) in future.

Thanks.

Someone's going to have sore thumbs by the time they've podded that lot!   I wish mine looked like that.
