primo and drumhead cabbage - can it go out now?
« on: April 30, 2015, 07:51 »
I have kindly been given well grown seedlings of primo and drumhead cabbage, and they have been living in the logstore in their 3" pots for the last two weeks.  I have a space for them and netting on the plot so can I put them in the ground now?  Any advice would be good, thank you

If you have been putting them out to harden off and they have 5 true leaves they can go out. However, frost is forecast for tonight and Friday, after that the nights look warmer. Although cabbage is pretty hardy I would wait until Saturday to plant them out.

Mine went out 2 weeks ago and are romping along but I had them growing outside in their pots for weeks before!! I would wait until it warms up a couple of degrees to be on the safe side.

Mine are the same as matt. I planted them out last week having been outside for a couple of weeks before that and they seem fine (netted to protect them from the birds).

Put mine out under 2 litre pop bottle cloches last weekend to give them a bit of protection from cold & slugs

But then again I'm in the Dolf-Lungren-in-Rocky-4 camp of *affects bad russian acccent* "If it dies, it dies"
