Planting a quince

Planting a quince

We have a sheltered Sw facing garden in Teesdale, N. Pennines. However it is at 700 ft. We want to plant a quince. Is there any chance of fruit, and is now a good time to plant one?

Taken over neglected veg garden at new home. Enemy number 1 Ground Elder. Then there is the furry terror - bunnies - to contend with!
Made a start have beds established but moved in too late for serious planting. We shall see what 2015 brings.

To be honest, I'd give Rogers of Pickering a ring to ask about your particular conditions and see what they say.

Our local garden garden centre Eggleston Hall has quince and I believe they are from Rogers.

They grow in Serbia so i'm sure that will be fine at 700 'AMSL....
