How long before they sprout....I'm tempted as I've had dodo germination with early sowings In the past

I have discovered that you need to set runner seeds in a coarse compost with a peaty substance and then you get good germination.  If you use a seed sowing compost it's too fine and when damp it becomes too compacted around the seeds, which can cause them to rot. Well that's my experience.

I saved my own seed last year, and having used Bowers Seed Compost (Soil Based) I planted 240 of last years seed and literally within hours (sowed in modules around 8pm, I get up for work around 6am) had 240 seed visibly germinating. I am actually worried I may need to dump them and start again because they are now SO far ahead.

I have never chitted runners before,might try it.
I have always tested my seeds first,to see if they are viable seeds.
Jug of cold water,throw the seeds in,those that sink are ok.
Those that float are no good,,,chuck em.
I have had 100% germination with this method.
