hi all I took on another allotment earlier this year and inherited a grape vine which is growing outside could be 2 maybe 3 years old still and  has leaves on, I want to move it into the greenhouse with roots outside, gh will it be safe to move it now ? and will itl bear fruit next year im not sure if it is green or red grapes. also can I take cuttings, tia darren

Most grapes will easily do cuttings in the spring when fresh sap is running through the branches.

I'd wait until all the leaves are off the vines before digging it up. Then you'd move it but do take an adequate rootball in case it spread a lot.

As for a crop, hard to say. Normally they don't care to be moved and are a bit slow to recover, but you never know.

I inherited a grape vine last year

it was absolutely massacred - hacked back and hardly any root -I stuck it in and thought its got 2 chances

it has grown lovely this year - no fruit but considering its up heaveall  I'm not surprised

Don't think you could kill one if you tried

Of course, you can move it when, when dormant as others say, but why do you want to? Roots outside the gh is a good gardening practice, not a mess.
