I've merged two similar topics.

Please 'make it not so' auntie,  had a couple in the GH this week and hoped that they were 'abberations'.  I can't do the squishy thing (yes, I am a wuss) so I picked off the toms they were munching through and threw them outside... :(

Here's your culprit? Photo taken last Sunday in Manchester where a friend had huge number of tomatoes nibbled at, hollowed out, then the woodlice moved in. All totally disgusting. I was here helping to rescue the remaining fruit and murder any remaining caterpillars. The infestation had come from nearby cauliflowers and the tomatoes were decimated  by Cabbage White caterpillars. I had not see them attack tomatoes before. So glad they were not mine.

Went out to the greenhouse tonight only to find the dreaded Blight on some of the leaves - stripped these out and put them in the rubbish bin so hopefully I have gotten it in time.  Also found a very long pinky colored caterpillar (the color of the inside flesh of the tomato) couldn't do the squishy thing so I dropped him into a bucket of water to drown instead.  Will give them a shake in the morning to see what comes off them.

I've had these critters decimate my plants too. Picked off loads and chopped them in half. The wasps came and feasted on the corpses. Oh my! Don't I sound blood thirsty?

I ended up removing the trusses and ripening them in a mini greenhouse propagation which has been quite successful.

Strangely only the tomato plants in one part of the garden have been affected.

Would they be the things that are chomping on my pepper leaves.  No chillie peppers have been touched but the leaves look a mess.

Kathrose, from what I saw they were chomping on EVERYTHING in the Manchester garden and were very plump and juicy.
