I've just recently taken over an allotment, I've been able to get a bit in but I've got a couple of square meters of raised bed left over. Is it too late to put some onions in?

I've got sweet corn, pumpkins, butternut squashes, courgettes, runner beans, dwarf beans, asparagus crowns, Swiss chard, radishes, spring onions and beetroots.

We had a similar post recently that suggested it is too late for onions.

As BQ said there is another thread going, but the gist of it, was that onions stop growing foliage after longest day and then transfer growth into the bulb.

Therefore way too late I would have thought.

Salad onions woukd be ok though......

Well, i've just got a load of plugs for pennies and bunged them in. I'm in the same position, allotment of weeds given me in May, I've dug out beds and bunged squash, pumpkin, beans, onion,leek, beetroot and fruit bushes in. Chancing it to get a harvest. My reasoning is, best make use and cultivate the beds, even if we get nowt.
