but the the vics also loved jap knotweed and gound elder - amongst others - funny - fickle old f@rts

No but this morning my wife said I looked like I was sucking one. 8)

I was helping a pal years ago who needed info on his lemon tree.

He was so pleased that after about 4 years he had 2 lemons growing on his tree.
He asked me to check for beasties because his eyes were not too good.
I reached over to check taking great care and fell forward knocking the pot.
To my horror both lemons fell off.
I just did not know what to say,and in the end left without a word.
After that I read all I could about lemons and learned that it was not my fault he had failed to water and they would have fallen off anyway.

Thanks for all the replies!
Sorry, I haven't read them sooner as my notification has been sitting in my email junk folder.

I'm in Lancaster, and grow organic.
Sounds like it would be best to grow the lemon tree in a pot as a houseplant.  Should I bother with taking it outside in the summer?

What should I feed it with and how often?
When you advise a "mist sprayed over the fruiting buds"
is this a mist of water? How often would you spray?

Thanks.

Definitely. Sitting out on the patio on a romantic summer's evening with a loved one, pouring the G&T and reaching out for one of your home grown lemons, how cool is that?

At least once every 2 weeks in winter, every 2nd day in summer if really hot every 4 days if not.
I would be inclined to leave indoors all year. They do not take well to change and you may find that the fruitlets fail to mature and fall off.

Some people put them outdoors but they do get less fruit.
