red veined sorrell success
« on: February 13, 2013, 19:56 »
I sprinkled some seed around the edge of a few tubs last spring which made a pretty display and a nice addition to salads. I dug some up today to edge a bed at the lotty and must have had nearly 100 plants. They seem to have transplanted ok will do the same again this year.

I'm afraid that they may have transplanted well, but come spring they will all go to seed and then it is a battle to make sure they don't self seed and become a weed as they keep throwing a hefty flower head up.  Also, the leaves taste bitter once they start to bolt so my suggestion would be too enjoy them now rather than later  ;)

the ones I had became a nightmare crop putting all their energy into seed heads despite my cutting them back - it put me off growing them again.  Maybe you will have better luck than me  :)
