Nice, make the most of the flffy cuddly stage, they arent like that for long

Just a suggestion for anyone else, a storeage box with a lid, a 60 watt red bulb makes a good brooder (its what I am using

After they dont need the heat, they live in a large card board box until either the weather improves or they are big enough to go outside, I dont have a garage, just a conservatory, I turn the rads off, its chilly, but they dont seem to mind (wjhen I say they, I do mean the last chicks from last year
It's all about the journey, not the destination

After when Pepsi100????

My chicks are a week old today!! (although thats when we found them, looking at the state of some of them chqnging they had probbaly been hatched a couple of days before)

They are still inside (non heated utility room) with mom! Our snow and our below zero temperatures have now gone, but still unsure of the next stage! i know what I think I should do!

I will upload some more pics of the chicks and our set up on a new post soon!

Hows Dotty doing, our BOB is still sitting got to be over a month now:-( and now Marley has started sitting too! hopefully going to give them a strong talking to today and try and take whatever it is away, just wanted to ensure that the frost has gone before i kick them out of there coops!!

Thanks peeps!

Dotty is sitting tight and it is a little warmer now but still cold enough for snow.  I am giving her the breeding food with boiled water which will help keep her hydrated.  I check that she has also been out for a feed and poo which are unmistakable as broody poos are large and very smelly.

I might candle some of the eggs at 8 to 10 days to see if any are fertile.

It was really chilly here in the Spring when both Lotty and Dotty had chicks and they had them out in the sunshine at a few days old.  The chicks were really happy and only huddled under Mum when they got cold which was not very often.  The rest of the time they were in a rabbit hutch in a sheltered spot.   :)
