Verbena rigida is the only dwarf one I know.  There is a new cultivar called 'Santos' which comes in purple and I think pink, but not sure if its going to be around as seed

Give it a year and one of the main growers may pick it up and it will move from mail order only to available at a garden centre  ;)  :)

If you google Verbena Lollipop, there are loads of places selling it mail order and you can get a much better deal than £8.99 for one.

It seems to be a naturally occuring sport so may not come true from seed.  Or as it is fairly new, it may just be a few years before it makes it into the seed market.  The growers like to make their money out of the plants first with new stuff.

Verbena is dead easy to take cuttings from if you do buy plants ;)

How viable are the seeds that you would collect from a verbena from the garden if you were to buy a plant.I've never tried as the verbena seeds are so cheap and grow so readily?

I'll definately second that - I bought a Verbena bonariensis plant from a local fete two years ago and last year had 14 plants in the garden, all from cuttings from the parent.  I already have 22 cuttings rooted for this year in the greenhouse with loads of still untapped potential cutting material coming along nicely.

You will therefore only ever need the one plant to get a garden full, so maybe £8.99 isn't too bad after all!
No matter how many plants I have in my garden, I can always find room for one more.
