Moulting hen started laying
« on: November 12, 2012, 09:41 »
Hi,
If somebody could shed some light on what I might do.  I have a Ginger Ranger who started her moult but before she has refeathered she has started laying again but they are mostly soft shelled.
Should I reduce the amount of protien she is getting?  If so how do I do this.

All advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks
 :)

feed her on layers and have crushed oyster shell and dark leafy greens available , then cut out all treats.
Soft shells are often a sign of an old hen.
Staffies are softer than you think.

What age were your hens when they started laying?
