Peony-flowered ranunculus, any advice?
« on: January 08, 2012, 10:02 »
I love these http://pinterest.com/ranunculus/peony-ranunculus/ but am in Aberdeen and don't want to order if they're unlikely to survive!

I would be growing them on an allotment to use as a cut flower. Would they have to be lifted every year?

I'd appreciate any advice on how to grow these or an easier alternative. Thanks.

They do look gorgeous, don't they?

They probably would need to be lifted every year, but there is lots of info in the above link which I hope is helpful  :)

I love ranunculus I have a yellow one in flower right now! My mother always tried to grow them with little success but I got some last jan/feb from a pound shop bunged them in pots and they are now flowering for the second time, I did not lift them and aside from the odd watering in the summer I have done nothing to them I'm guessing it's just luck?!

In my very cold winters I have to lift them or lose them, just like glad corms.

Great link, thanks. I've found a cheap pack of bulbs online so will maybe give it a shot.
