If I don't shut the door when I'm having a wee, I end up with a Pointer puppy on my lap

In all the years that I've kept cats, I've never had any that scratched the furniture.  I trained them as soon as they come home as kittens - start as you mean to go on.  They only scratch outside.  I now have two cats, a moggie and a Mainecoon - Mainecoons don't have claws, they have talons - really impressive.  The only thing that he uses his claws on is the fireside rug.  He stretches his front paws, and grabs the rug and pulls, and then he lies down on it, so he's "leaning" against the rugged up bit.  Very cosy :D

Our two will scatch on anything, when they were kittens their favourite thing was my leg  And we have to keep the loo door shut too, mainly because our silly boy cat jumps up on to the loo, and doesn't look to see if the lid is down or not, we have had a couple of accidents there!!!

Sunny, if you want i have a pair of nail clippers now that Mr Eric has made an exit from our lives. you are more than welcome to them if you want. PM if so.

Human nail clippers work well. My old house cat used to pummel my head in the morning to get his breakfast so it became essential.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
