itchy fingers
« on: February 03, 2010, 16:01 »
Tiz the time of year again where the spring light is at the end of the tunnel, my fingers are itching to rummage through bags of compost and pot up my recently arrived seeds.
Already got window ledges full to bursting of onions, chilli's, tomatoes (a little early I know) and shoe boxes of leek spoutings.
Now I've got to wait a few weeks to plant any seeds from the brightly coloured  packets I keep looking longingly at.

What I am most looking forward to this year is :-  Sweetcorn Oh plenty (90 plants this year instead of 16 last year)

Broad beans ( 100 planted already in autumn and another 50 to go in)

Bhut jolokia chilli ( a new one to me but more for pranks than eating)

Courgettes ( strange I know but I'm running out of ratatoui in freezer)

and after pruning my unruly peach tree last year I'm hoping for plenty of juicy sweet fruit.

I could go on and on because there's so much I can't wait for. BRING ON THE SUNSHINE.

Good luck to all for an abundant growing season this year

I'm banned for being obnoxious (not pompous as you might have thought)

Would have thought it was a tad warm for your onions

The onions go down to the allotment once sprouted and chill in the greenhouse along with the leeks. I'm sowing a few trays at a time (as much as my window ledges can take).

Really? Why is it snowing here?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

My onions are in an unheated greenhouse which is pretty much as cold as outside, they germinated there as well ;)

Snowing here as well ... was on top of the greenhouse roof when it started, bang went the repairs we were doing :tongue2:

I've put some onion seedlings in my unheated greenhouse today but I did start them inside during our snow-in out of desperation to get going with something.

Started pink garlic and shallots in pots in the greenhouse today but still got itchy fingers as well to get going on all my seeds  ;)
