If there's one thing I love to hear, it's a pure regional accent. I used to think I didn't have one when I was growing up until I started working with people form around the country.
Mine has become 'tainted' by East Midlands and South Yorkshire cos I worked with so many. I could tell at one time if someone came form Chesterfield, Derby or Sheffield.

I hope the US and Aussie soaps don't make the youngsters all sound the same. Our DD is in SE London and is starting to pick up their accent.

As far as I know it's someone from Wolverhampton cos they say Yam instead of 'Are you'

As in...

Yam gooin out tonight ?

That's what I was told anyway !  :wink:

But it may depend on where you come from as to who it applies to.

Babe has a fantastic suffolk accent i could listen to her for hours!!!  Mine is a big old muddle now i have one cornish parent the other is east end - i spent most of my childhood in Rochdale and North wales - result - no accent what so ever!  :?

Blimey. My brother lives in Suffolk but is surrounded by ex-londoners so hasn't lost his accent at all.

I have not and will not lose my accent, even though I have not lived in my home county of Lancashire for 36years.
worked in a cotton mill as a teenager in a town that most of you will have heard of Accrington, I'm a lancy lass and proud on et.  :D  :D
