2 of our 5 girls(Rhode island reds) have had the runs for about 3 week now,the local Kennelgate shop said take them off layers mash,and stop giving them kitchen scraps and give them growers pelletts for a week, (they are all 23 wk old)then mix growers with layers pelletts,so we got some growers pelletts and they dont seem to be eating much they all look healthy and are drinking well,will they start eating the pelletts when they are ready or should i return to mash?

Since changing there food we seem to get less eggs only 3 out of 5 today (Monday)

some chickens seem to have runnier poo than others- are you sure it is 'the runs' and not just normal for them?  Vets usually advise cutting back on treats and feeding only layers pellets (never heard of the advice you were given)  Some say to give plain yoghurt which I have used effectively (but others say dairy shouldn't be given to hens!)
