Stage 3, new preserving pan et al:

And the finished product, not without a panicked phone call to mum when it didn't look like reaching the setting point after 20 mins' boiling

Hindy, the pan came from a local shop that sells everything under the sun; it's the same one as sold in Lakeland at £40, but was on special offer over the Bank Hol down to £28.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Was that Barnitts?  (I swear, they've got extra dimensions in there: I keep expecting to go in one door, get horribly lost, and come out of a different door three streets away last Tuesday)   If so, do you know whether they're still doing the offer or whether it was just a bank holiday special?

Yes, it was Barnitts!  That shop, as you say, has expanded over about 4 different stores in the years I've been in York  :D

The offer ended on Bank Holiday Monday, when the price went back up to about £45 - so Lakeland is usually cheaper (but I didn't want to pay the £40 charged by them  ).

Oh well, I missed out there!  Maybe I can persuade someone to buy me one for Christmas.
