How much?

If you have a man about the house make sure he urinates on the compost heap regularly. At least once a week, but once a day is better still. That ensures your compost heap always has a fresh supply of nitrogen to get things heating up quickly

hi all.is this correct??? im new to all this and could do with my compost heap rotten down a bit quicker!but don't fancy my neighbour having a heart attack at seeing me standing on a box trying to pee into the bin!! :D well, she is in here 90's!!

Just to add -  as well as the 'human liquid waste', the other things that you can do to speed up the composting process are:
1.Have a good mix of brown and green waste (roughly half and half). Green = grass clippings, fruit peelings, etc.
Brown = cardboard, newspaper, twigs, autmn leaves etc
2. Shred things as finely as possible before adding, the smaller the pieces the faster they will rot.
3. Mix and stir as often as you can.
4. Keep the heap moist, too dry will never rot, too wet will become sludgy and smelly and not very pleasant to handle. :)
