First potatoes furtled!!

So exciting every year! Rogue potato in new asparagus bed, so thought it worth a furtle - and found enough for tomorrow's tea. Could it actually be summer's here?!

Its strange no matter how hard you try there is always a few you miss yet these are often the first to grow I almost wonder if nature knowes best when to grow and we should just plant potatoes in september ? ::)
This is the first age that has ever paid much attention to the future which is ironic since we may not have one !(Arthur c Clarke)

Had a furtle yesterday and found 2 spuds the size of eggs.

I think I'll leave it another week before I think of digging any plants up.

If we planted spuds before the winter here I think most would be destroyed by frost.

Furtled, then uplifted completely, Foremost planted in sawn-off drainage duct at home. About 2 lbs of small pebbles with many new globules forming on roots. Taste is fine but relative size suggests leaving for another couple of weeks as much more growing is possible! These were planted right at the beginning of March, about 2 weeks ahead of the start of planting in the allotment, so I'm using them as a kind of indicator - and furtling is a lot easier when I only have to lift the duct up!

My First Earlies are just about coming into flower. I might have a furtle when I go up the plots later.
