Hope someone can offer me some advice.

I have 3 hens which i have had for the past 2 weeks. So far they have remained confined to their Ark but i would like to give them some freedom in the garden. I have a small (ish) garden on an average estate so i am keen that they don't escape and destroy other peoples gardens. The garden has a 5'6 fence all around it and i have blocked up any holes.

I have clipped one wing on each of them (not sure who that was more traumatic for, me or them).

What is the chance of them flying over the fence and causing probs elsewhere??

Not sure if it has any bearing on it but 2 of the hens are Starlights and the other is a hybrid brown (means nothing to me, but it might to you)

Your garden sounds perfect for 3 hens.  If you have any flower beds you don't want JCB'd. put some netting round them (chicken wire would be fine).  With a clipped wing they should not be able to get over your fences.

Hi Nathan,

I let my two, Thelma and Louise,  out for the first time on Sunday. I was a bit nervous about them getting out, but I'd clipped their wings and, to be honest, they seemed more interested in scratching around. It was lovely to see them enjoying themselves
