Ducks

As you may or may not know I yesterday and today moving 32 ducks from a lady moving back to the uk, over to a friends of mines house.
They are enclosed in a big barn type area, with natural light, at the moment. They will be free range in a huge area (2.5 ha) in which there is a lovely big lake.
The question is: how long should they be kept inside to get used to their new accommodation? I would think at first when they are let out that they will stay fairly close to the barn, the lake is about 150 yds away  and hopefully they wont aim straight for it. :? She was thinking of keeping them locked up for a couple of weeks but is unsure. What do you reckon???

Would have thought as long as it's a big enough area, safe, warmish with food and water (clean and deepish) available, it won't harm them.

The smell may be quite strong by then though

Just took the one night for Titch & Co Jelly :)
But they didn't have a huge lake shouting to them

I don't think they need 2 weeks, but if there is plenty of room they'll be fine. Are they able to see out or the windows too high up?
Would it be possible to make a wire frame for the door so they can get an idea of their new surroundings??

Sarah :D

The room is only filled in half way up and then its all mesh wire so it lets in plenty of light. There is also a shelf so they can see out.....but not the lake. I reckon 3 or 4 days should do it, aye :?:

I'd think so Jelly :)

They aren't like chucks she might still have fun getting them in even if she left them in for 6 weeks - Ducks are mad - but we love 'em
