Can anyone tell me Please is it to late to plant Garlic bulbs as last year weather was bad and the soil up to now is to wet a bit like a bog  . I know that the bulbs go in to the soil at the back end of the year i hope to start in the garden this week end thats if the soil dry's up

Garlic still available from outlets. I know of no reason why it couldn't go in still.

Its not clear if you still have cloves that you purchased last year and couldnt get in, I'm not sure that would work if it's the case.

Unless otherwise stated it can be assumed ALL posts are by Pa Snip

Theres autumn ones and spring ones, its time to plant the spring ones now, as the autumn ones need some hard frosts realy to develop cloves, however i would still plant them out and see what happens :)

Although the daytime temps are up there are still some quite hard frosts overnight, so you should be OK.

If you already have the bulbs I'd put them in. You don't have much to lose other than a bulb.
I reckon you could bet on a good frost or two before the summer gets here. We still aren't into spring yet.

Adal,
Hope you don't mind me changing the topic direction slightly.

I planted my garlic last Autumn and they are in the plot doing well. They are now all about 6 or 7 inches high and one or two have got a bit of a yellow tinge at the top of the leaves

In my garage I have a big bag of Growmore, will my Garlic benefit from some growmore and  if so at what time in their growing season?

fatbelly some of mine are the same - I put it down to a bit of blanching from being covered with snow in November when they were just popping up. I dont think it is a soil issue, but a bit of growmore will do no harm and might help.

Hi BB,
Thanks for the reply.

Mine were sown in 3 inch pots and kept in an unheated G/House as per Johns video. So they didn't get any snow, but it was mighty cold in the G/House throughout November and December.

I would get some high nitrogen fertiliser on them to promote leaf growth now so they can produce plenty of energy to store in the bulb.
