Buying geranium plugs ?
« on: February 22, 2011, 13:47 »
I have to buy alot of upright and trailing geraniums this year.   I have just looked on google, but wondered if anybody has bought them, and can recommend a good supplier.
Thanks,  Mrs Bouquet

Oh yes, thanks for that mum, they're lovely just what I want.

Thanks to Robbo as well, for funky flora.  I also want dwarf snap-dragons, so I shall give them a try.

Thanks again guys,   regards,  Mrs Bouquet

There is a firm called Vernons who are good for geraniums and also fuschias.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

My geranium plus have arrived today from Jersey Plants, they look strong and healthy.
£9.99 for 100 plus 60 free. I had wallflower and polyanthus plugs last year and they have done well upto now.

I bought the same as you loam ranger. £9.99 for 100 + 60 free. They arrived yesterday and are now sitting pretty in 6 and a half seed trays. So 156 good plants plus 3 looking a little travel sick so potted on into paper-pots.

Good value for money, healthy little plants and fingers crossed for steady growth through to potting on time.

I'd recommend them Mrs B if you need loads and have space to grow them on.  ;)

I was in two minds wether to order the geraniums from jersey plants, seemed too good a deal to be true, but if theyve arrived strong and healthy for you two then ill give them a go, it works out cheaper to buy them from them as plugs than sow the seeds yourself, how do they make a profit?

I guess it's rather like dear old Woolworths when they started up = selling huge quanities so small profits per sale make good overall profits through lots of sales.

It's certainly cheaper than buying seeds, running an electric propagatorythingy and hoping.  ::)

i've had geraniums from them in the past and they have been great - strong and healthy plants - such good value!  have you tried their roses - they seem amazing value, but not surely they are too good to be true - they have 5 hybrid roses for£15.99 - so much cheaper than the garden centres - has anyone brought roses from them?
