After sucessfully hatching two chicks wh are now Nine weeks old, we decided to fetch two more girls. The new ones are 7 weeks old.  We were told to wait till it was dark and put them all in together and in the morning everything would be ok.  Well mum of the original two attacked one of the new ones the minute we put it in.  Couldn't leave it there so we have the new ones in a small ark at the side of our coop.  Should we leave them there for a week or so and try again or is it because she is still with her original chicks she attacked the new ones. The mum never seems bothered about her original two till now.  Any advice is great.  Begining to think made a mistake getting two more.

This is what we find it works well.

We keep them in a separate house/run but so they can all see each other after a few days let the new girls out (supervised)so they can all mix together for about 15mins before bed time.

They are much calmer when the light is going down so they will then head off to their own hen house to roost and then the next day you can do the same again but let them out a little earlier.

There will of course be some chasing but things will soon calm down and when you feel they all get along ok you can introduce the new girls to the coop with the others when it’s dark.
