I'm sooo planning to grow these for the first time.

Any practical hands on advise from those who are growing them would be welcome. :)

Pros and cons and tips, also, how much for just your average family and all the know how would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Crosnes

I grew them for the first time this year so a bit of a learning curve for me having never even seen the plant before.

I opted to grow in containers (25 litre) having read about how hard they are to dig up.   Boy am I glad I did.

Yield was not very high but I put that down to (a) a terrible summer and (b) containers too shallow and (c) too little manure.  I have already planted out a lot more for next year and have opted for 50-60 litre containers (sacks).  I have added lots of manure this year since they grow very much like mint.

Haven't cooked any yet but they are scrummy just to munch raw.

No - crosnes have a totally different haulm.  The stem is hairy, leaf is crinkly around the edge (and hairy) and mine didn't flower.

Underground it does look much the same as that but the tuber looks more like ... like ... errm ... google for Ann Summers.
