Raised Beds
« on: October 17, 2010, 19:27 »
I have read a lot of books saying how raised beds are beneficial and say that you can grow majority of veg/fruit but never say what is not suitable.  Does any one know of what is not suitable.

I personally can't think of any veg' that doesn't like growing in a raised bed.  I suppose the last of the years runner beans could be a pain to gather! :D   Cheers,   Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Welcome to the site  :D

I've moved your post across to Grow Your Own, feel free to pop back into the Welcome forum to introduce yourself  :)

The depth of the beds will be the most important determining factor - you obviously can't grow things like parsnips and spuds in very shallow beds.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I love my raised beds and have made double height ones for root veg like parsnips and carrots.  As long as you have the depth anything, in theory, should be ok to grow in them.

I agree and you can grow things much closer together so can plant more in the space available
3 dogs, 8 chickens, 4 rabbits 2 guinea pigs, 10 quail, 2 fish and a demanding daughter who has gone to uni and left me with 29 animals to care for!!=)
