Lidl Fruit trees
« on: February 20, 2012, 18:45 »
Just got my email from Lidl, starting next thursday
Fruit trees £3.99 2 for £7
described as 2 years old and 87cm. Sound a bit small to me but certainly cheap.

Sorry to digress Lawrence but where is the nearest Lidl? I know where the Gillingham Aldi is but would like to have a looksee when I'm next in Medway.  :)

The nearest Lidl to you is in Maidstone I think, next to Matalan.

yeh they are cheap, i bought mine for about 6 quid each from netto about 3 years ago and they fruited for the first time last year, oh and i bought them about that size aswell, they grow fast, mine are about 8ft at the moment - and thats how i want them to stay, so i give them a trim every year.

thye have cheap fruit shops in nearly all of the shops at this time of the year, morrisons, aldi, lidl ect

Then the next nearest is Gravesend. (Near the big ASDA)

Copying and pasting it now!  :D

Just the standard reminder to check rootstocks before planting what becomes a huuuuge tree in an allotment or in a small garden.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Good point about rootstocks, it never worried me before, but I would be interested if anyone found out what they are.

I've just left our local Lidl with 2 cherries, 2 plums and 2 peaches under my arm, they do seem a bit small - but at that price, I'm willing to take a punt!!!

Oh and I got 3 20L bags of potting compost for 99p a bag!!!

There's one in Broadstairs Auntie if that's not too far. It's just down the road from Westwood Cross on the Margate Road, so pretty accessible.
