Baby milk tins

I've been saving Albert's milk tins to use as planters for tumbling toms but don't want my allotment to turn into an advertisement for sma. What can I paint them with that a) is weatherproof and b) won't taint the plants? thanks

I have lots of oddball containers on my plot and I bought a tin of terracotta masonry paint from homebase. They look like proper pots now.

National Milk powder tins and bottles of orange juice. . . Now that brings back memories. :happy:
