I found a recipe online for ranch salad dressing, which amongst other things has mayo, buttermilk and sour cream in it.

I bought all the ingredients today and have only just realised that unlike the bottle you buy from the supermarket, this stuff will only last a few days in the fridge and I doubt even we could use up the quantity I will be making within this time.

So i'm wondering if anyone knows whether this would freeze having these dairy products in it.

I suppose my other option would be to make less and try to use up the rest of the ingredients for something else or make it all up give some to family.

I think that the mixture would split/curdle with freezing. Cream should be ok but mixing it with the oil and lemon/vinegar in the mayo

It's just my gut feeling, though, I've never tried it.

Thanks for your reply Mum, that was my thinking but I'm not sure, it just doesn't sound right.

Its made now and in the fridge, minus the dill and chives swapped for spring onion, curly parsley instead of flat leaf.  I'll need to take a note to the shops from now on, this aging carry on is playing havoc with my cooking
