Is there anything that would do well here?

4 foot high fence, north facing but fields at the back of the house and just neighbours garden next door. (I'm trying to beef it up here arn't I?)

We have a very happy and productive trained cherry tree on the north facing wall of our garage. Apparently, they are fine on north walls. Maybe a dwarf version or a bigger fence??

If you want something productive, morello cherries would be fine and can be trained to a low fan shape.
Red or white currants will also do and can be trained as fans or cordons (possible row with several varieties?)
Blackberries also possible but keep tied in to avoid spreading

I've just bought a Grenadier cooking apple from Ornamental Tree Nurseries in Hereford. Internet research suggests that early culinary apples grow ok when against a north wall. I'm planning to fan or espalier it and will be back on the site when it arrives for help, I'm sure!
