Probably a bit late, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I would sow them indoors and then transplant them if they germinate.
They are as tough as old boots once they get established and just keep on growing through snow and wind.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
