What is the shelf life of an unfertilized egg? or, how long will it be good for sitting on the counter?

4 weeks from hatching, although I am sure some of us go past this if necessary. Usually they don't last that long!! :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

In an airtight container in the fridge they are supposed to last for ages, ie several months. Unwashed ones last longer than washed ones too, worth bearing in mind.

it depends on how warm the room is - eggs need to be stored in a cool room  :)

Back in the 70s an experiment was done on unwashed hen eggs.
Stored in airtight containers at 35-40 degree's they lasted for 7 months..
