£3 for a cod here and £1.20 for a bag of chips

No - you don't get the point.

That's not the normal price, they're the ones they put up when they see him coming.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Shaun, take comfort in the fact that I pay £5.20 for cod and chips in my area!
Calou
Reasonably organic but totally realistic

Yes - but it's dodo though. I have to admit, as a person who lives just about as far away from the sea as possible on this island home, the seaside ones are best.

We knew this cracking one at Porth, just outside Newquay, really succulent, 1 minute drive and you could park on the beach & eat them whilst watching the breakers.

Went there again 2 years ago - now a Chinese that doesn't even do crispy duck! They say never to go back.

I'm about as inland as it gets, yet we get lovely fried halibut and chips for just under 4 quid. The locals prefer perch, which probably comes out of the polluted lakes. Perhaps that's why they're so braindead around here

Ok so I did get an answer from Johnsons as follows :
Quote

Hello

Thank you for your enquiry. At the end of the season, all seeds are tested
in our own labs to check viability and then all being well they are
re-packaged, and that are no good are destroyed.

Regards,
Kimberley Gashi
