Yeha I know  :(  just thought you might know somewhere that still did em in newspaper. Never hurt any of us as kids, and we are probably fitter for all the germs and muck we used to eat.

An enterprising Fish Shop started supplying printed paper sheets that looked like newspaper but it never caught on.It was too sterile and slippery.
In the winter in thoses far off days some fish bars stayed open until 12 oclock midnight, now they all seem to shut at around 10 or even earlier.Leaving the chinese, indian, and kebab houses to take up the trade.

Its not just the paper its the whole ethos.
You could walk around with your bag of chips on the way home at midnight and not even think about being robbed.
The only danger you were in was getting the smell of fish on your clothes.
The food was nutitious if a bit fattening and full of cholestrol, being cooked in dripping(thats ok once per week),but it was comfort food at its best.
Hot in the hand hot in the tum and delicious.
