Similar to post above. Popped in last night after being away on holiday for a week, to check on the weeding front. Got a very nice surprise, virtually "No weeds".
This could be down to the fact that the week before we when away I was down at the plot every night weeding and  tidying up in preperation for the holiday. I got the plot looking the best its been all year just to be ready for while I was away. Will go back over the bank holiday and just remove the few weeds we have now.

Straight after my night shift - up the lottie and watered a bit - especially the celeriac as it's doing so well I don't want it to bolt!
Also picked more leaves off the celeriac and they are definitely getting bigger!
Picked a load of beans and courgettes and 2 giant courgette-looking-supposedly-spaghetti squash

Fed the french beans too - going a bit yellow so gave them some sulphate of ammonia for chlorosis (leaf yellowing)

Then after a little snooze - went back up:
Dug up all the Vales Sovereigns - some holey ones, some scabby ones but a good crop overall and a couple of good sizers for baking!

Trimmed the red cabbages, PSB and Tuscan kale of older, tougher yellowing leaves and fed them some high nitrogen feed.

Dug up the old calabrese and dug that area of John's brassica house over - might have to put some glyphosate down in here over winter as there is loads of bindweed in this soil.

Then it rained on me!
Managed to keep going at the start but too heavy in the end. ::)

No use trying to Glyphosate over the winter they have to be actively growing ! You will be wasting money  ;)

Picked some Runnerbeans and huge marrow that I will stuff tomorrow with some savoury mince.  We have coffee morning tomorrow at the allotment so I will get to meet all the other plot owners and hopefully get some great tips  :)

Weeded around the late leeks; then cleared the space occupied by the onions which are drying in the cold frame and planted some more green manure! Then there was the cropping but that's elsewhere!

A good day yesterday , picked runners and dwarf beans which are now in the freezer.Beetroot , onions , tomatoes and blackberries all ready for chutneys etc today. But what to do with 6 very large ' Patty Pans ' Will give it some thought later but any ideas would be appreciated.

What's the best way to freeze runner beans, I'm going to the allotment later to tidy the green house and pick some runners.
